Echostar II Completed
ENGLEWOOD, Colorado, USA, 96/07/15 (TS) -- EchoStar announced Monday the
successful completion of construction and testing of the EchoStar II
satellite, its second direct broadcast satellite for Dish Network.

The Lockheed Martin Series 7000 satellite, with 16 transponders capable of
transmitting in excess of 100 additional channels, was scheduled to ship
Monday from Lockheed Martin Astrospace in East Windsor, New Jersey, and
arrive on Wednesday, July 17, in Kourou, French Guiana, according to the
company.

Arianespace will launch EchoStar II atop an Ariane 4 launch vehicle from
its Guiana Space Center in early September.

"The additional capacity of EchoStar II will allow us to dramatically
expand our sports and Pay Per View product offerings in the fall," said Carl
Vogel, president, EchoStar Satellite Corp.

"These services, coupled with the outstanding packages currently
available, will give our present and future customers the best satellite
television has to offer, from a single source at great prices. In addition,
we intend to expand our international services, as well as our business
television and data service offerings with this additional capacity," he added.
