--- Finlands TV on Intelsat 707 in May:
Finlands TV will definitely not start on Eutelsat II f3: 11,617 V as
one source earlier announced. Instead, transmissions will start in May
(if everything goes as planned) on Intelsat 707 in MPEG-2. The exact
frequency is not yet known. The signal will be encrypted (probably with
Conax) and the sale of smartcards and MPEG-2 decoders is handled by
NSB - Nordic Satellite Broadcasting (phone: + 32-2-358 2309).
In Nordic countries, contact CTV's office in Helsinki on +358-0-683 686
for more information concerning the subscriptions of FTV.
Finlands TV's programmes consists of the programmes from Finnish
terrestrial TV channels YLE TV 1, YLE TV 2 and MTV 3. The same service
has been transmitted for many years in greater Stockholm area via Nacka
transmitter as well as on over 40 cable networks in Sweden. The Nacka
service will continue as normal.
Alongside FTV signal will be carried - in clear mode (digital) -
two radio programmes: Radio Finland and a radio channel which consists
mainly of programmes of the third Finnish terrestrial radio channel
(by YLE), Radio Suomi.
In 1998, Finlands TV will be transferred to a new satellite and
programmes can be viewed with a 60 cm dish in the whole of Europe.
(J Pesonen - thanks!)
