HARDLY HEADLINES IN THIS 97.03.10 REPORT:

- Formula One feeds
- Turkey Beam i604
- BEZEQ MPEG Tests
- Bits & Pieces

INTELSAT 704, 66 East, http://www.satcodx.com/i704.html
------------
Yesterdays Formula One racing feeds from Melbourne, for RTL on 4.060
GHz, Rc, carried only natural sounds. The previous observed German
comments on 6.60 were not available during the race. Picture quality was
excellent, up-linked in Perth ES, Australia.

Other analogue Formula One transmissions have been observed on Intelsat
604: 4.188 Rc (clear, poor quality, German commentary on 6.60), Turksat
1C: Cine 5 (clear); Hot Bird Pos.:Canal+ and Canal+ Horizons (Syster);
Rai Due (Discret12); Eutelsat II-f4-M: EBS feed (SiS); Intelsat 601:
Canal+ Horizons (Syster). Digital transmissions went unnoticed by me (as
usual).

INTELSAT 602, 63 East, http://www.satcodx.com/i602.html
--------
The RTI feed on 10.972 GHz, H, transmitted a religious feed on Sunday at
midday.

The MPEG-2 RAI package on 11.067 GHz, H, could not be made visible with
the PANASAT 520 IRD.

INTELSAT 604, 60 East, http://www.satcodx.com/i604.html
------------
On frequency 11.584 GHz, H, could today in the afternoon, a colorbar
testcard be observed. The signal level was not very high, but the
picture was clear, stable and without sparkies. No subcarrier was
transmitted.
It has been quite a while since this transponder has been tested. It is
one of the frequencies previously used by TRT in the pre-Turksat aera.
It proves that this Turkey spot beam is still available and ready to
use.

SME ED: It was curious to see that the electronic testcard had some
obvious irregularities. The purple and red bar were longer then the
other bars in the lower part; the blue one, to the right, was several
pixels shorter at the top.
A black square was visible in the center of the screen (which is not an
error).

EUTELSAT II-f2, 10 East, http://www.satcodx.com/e2f2.html
--------------
Transponder 39, 11.659 GHz, V, is transmitting in B-Mac since a while
now. Anybody any idea what's behind it ? CeBit transmissions ?

INTELSAT 707, 1 West, http://www.satcodx.com/i707.html
------------
Yesterday MPEG-2 test could be observed, around 13:00 CET, on
transponder 111X-B, 11.015 GHz, V and transponder 73A, 11.136 GHz, V,
whereby the first transponder had very strong signal levels in Cairo,
the second transponder showed an around 25% lower signal level.

As we learned last week, these are most probably digital tests performed
by Israeli Communications company "BEZEQ".

The colorbar testcard on transponder 111X-A is still available with
improved quality, however the available subcarrier on 6.60 MHz went
silent.

AMOS 1, 4 West, http://www.satcodx.com/amos1.html
------
The testcard for on transponder 1B, 11.010 GHz, V, showed this morning
the normal colorbars, but the text part had been reduced to a thin black
band, in the lower quarter of the screen, mentioning "I.B.A. Channel 3".

INTELSAT 601, 27.5 West, http://www.satcodx.com/i601.html
------------
In case you are able to understand the Portuguese language, then take a
renewed look at 3.800 GHz, Lc. The transmissions of TPA, Angola can be
received in very good quality in the Middle East, since a couple of
weeks. Programming contains movies, serials, sports and news.

Best regards,

Henk C. Room / Sat-MidEast / Cairo - Egypt
