INTRO
-----
Yesterdays report has not been submitted due to lack of informative
material. I wouldn't waste your, and my, time by reporting just for the
sake of it.

PANAMSAT 4, 68.4 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/pas4.html
----------
The "Win Your Dream" txm of a lotterie from the Seychelles, previously
seen as part of the SHOWTIME promotion channel, is now on ATN, 4.1850
GHz, V.

On txpr 11. 4.040 GHz, H, where earlier test transmissions from BBC
World and India's Doordarshan could be observed is since a week no
activity been seen. This has also been observed by Gregor Bregar and
reported by him to SATCO-DX.

INTELSAT 602, 63 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/i602.html
------------
The RTI feed txpr on 10.973 GHz, H, was txm in Syster/Nagravision this
afternoon.

Is it just the weather or did anybody else got improved reception, since
about a week, of the IRIB (Iranian) channels 1 to 4, on 11.000, 11.055,
11.100 and 11.155 GHz, V ?
Please let me know...

GALS 1/2, 36 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/gals1.html
--------
Since the change of audio carriers from 7:00 to 6:80 on both visible
txpr 1, 12.169 GHz, Rc, and txpr 2, 11.919 GHz, Rc, the reception has
been stabilized and is acceptable in both picture and sound quality,
surely with the use of a low treshold figure.

Turksat 1C, 31 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/t1c.html
----------
As this satellite now should be on this position for several weeks, did
anybody actually see any activity ? I didn't; maybe they are waiting on
the re-positioning of the Arabsat 1C, although without any obvious
reason. The downlink frequencies of both satellites are in a complete
different part of the spectrum.
Is there somebody who can pick up the baken frequency and confirm the 36
degrees east position ? Please let me know ...

ARABSAT 2A, 26 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/a2a.html
----------
From the four remaining free Ku-band txpr, two were activated today.
Txpr 2, 12.536 GHz, V, (reserved for SAUDIA 2) was showing a strong
blank carrier without sound carriers, throughout the morning. Later on
the day txpr 7, 12.646 GHz, H, (reserved for Kuwait TV) was showing a
colorbar testcard, also without a sound carrier. The signal strenght of
the txpr 7 txm varied at times, from maximum to less than 50% level.
Expect a new channel to be switched on soon. My personal guess: RTM
Maroc, they were until 17:00 CET not txm anything on their Arabsat 1C
txpr, 4.008 GHz, Rc. Txm of RTM on Eutelsat could been seen as usual.

HOT BIRD 1, 13 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/hotbird.html
----------
Since MCM is testing an MPEG-2 signal on 11.289 GHz, V, I have not been
able to tune in, I could however receive quite a strong signal.

INTELSAT 707, 1 West, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/i707.html
------------
On txpr 38B, 4.183 GHz, Lc, on the East Hemi beam, previous used by
Yemen TV, a strong, but undefined, txm signal can be received lately.
Could it be tests for the upcoming digital AFRTS txm ?

AMOS 1, 4 West, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/amos1.html
------
The previously reported txm of Israels channel 2 on txpr 4U, 11.510 GHz,
V, could not be observed yesterday evening. In the early morning a
mixture of various test cards could be seen with in the top middle of
the screen: "CH 2" and in the lower middle "MASHAV-JER". A very weak,
distorted sound could be heard on a carrier on 7.20 MHz. These txm was
not identical with the txm of the regular Israel 2 programm at the same
time on txpr 1U.
Today the txm of channel 2 was activated again on txpr 4U, but therefore
the long standing txm of "IBA CNCT CH1" on txpr 4L, 11.4676 GHz, V, was
switched off. Txpr 6L, 11.653 GHz, V, was activated this evening with a
blank carrier, no sound carrier.

PAS 3R, 43 West, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/pas3r.html
------
On 12.701 GHz, V, Mexicos ECO channel was txm again with a news
broadcast until15:45 CET in NTSC and on-screen logo. The used language
was Spanish on 6.80 MHz.

SAT-MidEast Intern
------------------
For the very nosy ones: I'm presently in progress of creating my own,
single paged, SAT-MidEast Home Page, with a description of the used
receiving equipment and something about myself. I will announce the
official startdate soon.

I've been visting the "TELECOMP" telecommunications exhibition in Cairo,
during the last two days. There is such a load of information, that I
have to sort it out first, and wright the articles accordingly. It will
all be mailed shortly, nothing in there is anyway very hot news, at
least not for you professionals.....

One thing: I met some Arianespace officials, oh yes they were there, and
even after a half hour of interesting talks, I still didn't know which
sat was on flight V93 !
I got however some beautiful posters of the Nilesat 1 from Matra
Marconi. :-))

More coming soon...don't touch your dial...

Best regards,

Henk C. Room
