Nova update , Nilesat launch, NBC ends.

* From our dear contributor Theodoros
Politis we learn that the signal from Astra 1G is quite strong in Peloponissos -
Githion Lakonias , where he can pick up all digital channels with a 1,20 offset
dish.
* Dozens of anxious Greeks from all
over Europe are waiting for any developments in the Greek Nova digital bouquet
and send us mails in order to get some answers. We have to say that up to now
there is nothing new, no official announcement about any launch date. Some tests
and promos have been shown for a short time in the Promo channel and the sale of
the complete package ( 199,000 drs) has started . This package includes a
digital receiver( Panasat) , a 0.6 m dish and an LNB without of
course being able to 'unlock' the hidden Nova channels.
Our sources say that this receiver is
not able to receive many other packages and no SCPC channels because its
software does not process low Symbol Rates. Also, with the 0,6m dish reception
from other satellites ( ex. Astra) is highly difficult.
* April
28th must be a great day for the Egyptians. This is the day when their first
satellite, Nilesat 101 goes into space . In the early hours of 28/4 it will be
launched with flight V 108 on an Ariane AR 44P from Courou Space Center.
Nilesat 101, built by French
Matra Marconi Space is carrying 12 Ku-band transponders with 6 more spare and it
will be positioned at 7 degrees West.
The official
operational date is June 1st.
The launch procedures will be shown
live on Telecom 2A at
8 West, Telecom 2B at 5 West( Analog) and Hot Bird 3, 12.380 GHz,
MPEG-2/clear ( digital) Launch window is 22:53-23:41 UTC ( +3 Greek time).
* Rumors about the end of NBC Europe are
probably true. The american network NBC aknowledged that it will scrap
operations on NBC Europe and NBC Asia effective July 1st.
In NBC Europe's place a new channel will be
shown, its National Geographic Channel Europe.
It was mentioned that the new channel will
contain programming from CNBC and NBC News during the morning hours. Of course
the question is if this channel remains in the clear or it will follow the fate
of others ( Discovery ,Animal ) and turn to a subscription channel
!!!
* A new
digital frequency has been activated on Hotbird 3 . It is 12.322 H SR
16000, FEC 3/4, PIDs 308/256 currently showing a title TPSA-OPTOCOMP. Now it
shows colour bars, but it will probably be used for
feeds.
* Polish
channel Troche Mlodsza TV has started tests on Eutelsat II F2 at 10°E,
frequency 12,575 V- SR 3100 FEC 7/8 and VPID 128 / APID 129. Regular
programming is expected to start on 23 May.
*The Swedish channel SVT Europa
which started just one week ago on Sirius 2 frequency 12,687 V (digital),
seems to have stopped transmitting there. Radio Sweden was together in the same
bouquet.

μαθαίνουμε οτι ο Αστρα 1G κατεβαινει στο Γυθειο Λακωνιας με
πιατο μεγεθους 1.20 οffset, xωρις κανενα προβλημα στα ψηφιακα
καναλια του.
* Δεκάδες ενδιαφερόμενοι αναμένουν
αγωνιωδώς την πώληση των καρτών του Ελληνικού Nova και στέλνουν σε εμας
μηνύματα. θα πρέπει να πούμε οτι δεν υπάρχει κανένα νεώτερο οσον αφορά
κάποια ανακοίνωση σχετική με ημερομηνία έναρξης, παρά μόνο οτι έγιναν κάποιες
δοκιμές στο Future Channel με κάποια promo. Εν τω μεταξύ έχουν αρχίσει οι
πωλήσεις του πακέτου που περιλαμβάνει τον δέκτη , πιάτο 0.6μ και LNB αντί του
ποσού των 199,000 δρχ , χωρίς βέβαια να ξεκλειδώνουν ακόμα τα κανάλια.
Οι
πληροφορίες μας λένε οτι ο δέκτης ουσιαστικά "κάνει" μόνο για
λίγα πακέτα, δεν πιάνει SCPC κανάλια λόγω αδυναμίας στα χαμηλά Symbol
rate, ενω δεν πιάνει πακέτα στoυς Astra. Σίγουρα και η μικρή κεραία των 0,6μ -
πιό μικρή δεν υπάρχει ;- δεν επαρκεί για λήψεις άλλων δορυφόρων.
*Η 28η Απριλίου σίγουρα θα είναι μια
ιστορική μέρα για τους Αιγύπτιους, αφού είναι η μέρα της επιτυχούς εκτόξευσης
του πρώτου τους δορυφόρου, του Nilesat 101.
Ο δορυφόρος θα βρεί τη
θέση του στο διάστημα με την πτήση V108 από το διαστημικό κέντρο του Κουρού με
την εκτόξευση του Ariane AR 44P τα ξημερώματα της 28/4. Ο Nilesat 101,
κατασκευασμένος από την Γαλλική Matra Marconi Space θα τοποθετηθεί
στις 7 μοίρες W, αναμένεται να προσφέρει τις υπηρεσίες του για 16 χρόνια και
μεταφέρει 12 Ku -band transponders με 6 ακόμα βοηθητικούς.
Η επίσημη έναρξη
λειτουργίας του νέου δορυφόρου θα γίνει την 1η Ιουνίου.
Οσοι ενδιαφέρονται
να δούν την εκτόξευση ζωντανά μπορούν να συντονιστούν στους παρακάτω δορυφόρους
: Αναλογικά Telecom 2A στις 8 West, Telecom 2B στις 5 West και
Ψηφιακά Hot Bird 3, 12.380 GHz, MPEG-2/clear. Το παράθυρο εκτόξευσης είναι
22:53-23:41 UTC ( +3 ωρα Ελλάδος).
* Οι φήμες για το σταμάτημα του NBC Europe
μάλλον αληθεύουν, αφού το Αμερικάνικο δίκτυο NBC επιβεβαίωσε οτι απο 1ης Ιουλίου
σταματάει τις εκπομπές του NBC Europe και NBC Asia. Στη θέση του NBC
Europe θα εκπέμπει το National Geographic Channel Europe, το οποίο
τις πρωινές ώρες θα περιέχει προγράμματα του CNBC και NBC News. Το ερώτημα
βεβαια είναι αν αυτό το κανάλι θα παραμείνει ελεύθερο ή θα ακολουθήσει την
πορεία των άλλων ( Discovery , Animal ) και σε λιγο καιρό θα κωδικοποιηθεί ;
*Ενεργοποιήθηκε η συχνότητα 12.322 H
στον Hotbird 3 με ψηφιακή εκπομπή SR 16000, FEC 3/4, PIDs 308/256. Με τίτλο
TPSA-OPTOCOMP συνήθως έχει κάρτα με μπάρες, αλλά μάλλον θα χρησιμοποιηθεί για
feeds.
*Το Πολωνικό κανάλι Troche Mlodsza TV
ξεκίνησε δοκιμές στον Eutelsat II F2 στις 10°E, συχνότητα 12,575 V- SR 3100

απο μια εβδομάδα , φαίνεται οτι σταμάτησε. Μαζί ήταν και ο ραδιοφωνικός σταθμός
Radio Sweden.
